About Muscular Atrophy
Muscular dystrophy is a group of diseases that cause a progressive weakness and degeneration of muscle mass.
Muscular dystrophy abnormal genes interfere with production of protein called dystrophin needed to form healthy muscles. It can occur at any age but mostly diagnosed in childhood.
There are more than 50 types of muscular dystrophy that vary in symptoms & severity. Prognosis of muscular dystrophy depends on the type and severity of symptoms, yet eventually most of MD patients loose the ability to walk and use a wheelchair.
Every type has several subtypes under its umbrella depending on the affected genes and the missing protein.
The most popular types of muscular dystrophy is DMD & BMD which are the most lethal. Diagnosis is the cornerstone for managing disease.
It can be diagnosed through 1 or more of the following tools..
Clinical evaluation by neuromuscular specialist.
- Lab test (CPK).
- Neurophysiology (EMG).
- Imaging MRI.
- Muscle biopsy.
- Genetic analysis.

- Building a medical building on a global level to receive and treat cases of patients with muscular atrophy and the disabled.
- Work on the issuance and amendment of legislation for patients with muscular atrophy and disabled in accordance with the current circumstances.
